No, The Tannery is not a tanning salon. It’s a student-run integrated marketing communications firm located in downtown Kent, Ohio. The name has historical ties to the town of Kent. John Brown (1800-1859) had a leather tannery. He partnered with Zenas Kent (the guy the town is named after) and they had a very successful business.

We like the idea of John Brown’s tannery: taking raw material and turning it into a refined product. That’s what we do too, here at The Tannery. We take students and help turn them into young professionals, ready to be as successful as our namesake.
